A Plan for Fighting Temptation by Gail Purath

Have you ever thought of making deliberate plans to overcome temptation? Christ's temptation in Luke 4:1-13 is a good place to start.
  • Christ was alone, fasting, and ready to launch his ministry.
  • Satan tried to get Jesus to make selfish choices instead of submitting to God’s plans.
  • Jesus successfully responded to each temptation with Scripture.
So what can we learn?
  1. Satan likes to tempt us when we're vulnerable: hungry, sick, tired or preparing for important ministry.
  2. We should question decisions that place more emphasis on our personal desires than God's will.
  3. We should memorize Bible verses pertinent to specific temptations.
If there are areas where you've repeatedly given in to temptation, pray today about making a plan for success.

This is an example of the 1-minute devotions Gail posts on Bible Love Notes.
