"Yes, why?"
"Well, last night before bed, I had the strongest prompting to pray for her."
My five-year-old granddaughter was with her siblings at their other grandma's house, and only later did we discover that she'd been bitten by fire ants and refused to let anyone treat her. Her hand had gotten badly swollen, and that's why I believe God prompted me to pray.
I'm not always sensitive to God's Spirit, but I imagine these promptings happen more than we realize. We may think we choose to pray for someone or something on our own when it's actually God's Spirit prompting us.
It's an aspect of "praying in the Holy Spirit" (Jude 20), and it's a good reason to pause and ask God to direct our prayers.
If you've had a similar prompting, why not share it in the comment section and let all of us be blessed.
This post is a bit different...it has a devotion followed by a brief Bible study, if you'd like to do it. This is a sample of the kind of study Gail offers on Bite Size Bible Study each Monday. If you'd like to sign up for a subscription to these Bible studies, you can do that HERE.
Bible Study
Prayer is such a rich subject, and this study is merely a bite-size look at one aspect of praying in the Spirit. Please read the passages below and ask the Spirit to show you new insights that will make your prayer time more effective.
Romans 8:26-27: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
Ephesians 6:18: pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Jude 1:19-21: These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

I know what you mean about being prompted by the Holy Spirit to pray for someone. I have been prompted many times. I think we find peace in learning to listen to the Spirit as it speaks to us. Thank you for this post!
