I love spring in North Carolina; there is color everywhere I look. Pink, purple, yellow, red, white, blue, green. And the different shades of color are astounding, there’s sea shell pink and fuchsia pink, there’s lavender and deep royal purple, there’s grass green, lime green, vibrant yellow and pale yellow, truly an artist’s pallet. Each day a new color seems to appear.
I wondered just how many shades of pink there are, so I “Googled” it. Do you know that with “RGB color coding there are millions of shades of pink”! Millions of shades, how is that possible, and what is RGB color coding?
From Wikipedia I found that: “The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The name of the model comes from the initials of the three additive primary colors, red, green, and blue.”
So if I want to paint a room pink, utilizing the computer to mix the colors, I can choose from over a million shades, to find just the perfect pink. Isn’t God marvelous? I have been delighting in His creation of color for the last few weeks. What is delight? It is defined as: “something that gives great pleasure.”
Ahhh –delight – something that gives great pleasure, a word mentioned 105 times in the Bible. Either God delighting in man or man delighting in God.
Exodus 18:9
Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the LORD had done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians.
Deuteronomy 30:9
…The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors,
2 Samuel 22:20 and Psalm 18:19
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
1 Kings 10:9
Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you …
Psalm 35:9
Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.
Psalm 37:4
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 43:4
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight…
Isaiah 62:4
No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you …
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
When I see the millions of colors of spring, I see the delight of God. Have you delighted in God today? He delights in you. Happy Spring!

Joanne,
ReplyDeleteWhat an uplifting devotion! It really lifted my spirits to see the colors in your writing and in the flower graphics. But most of all, it is uplifting to know that God delights in me!
Thanks,
Ann
